HERO Heating and Air

By Luanne Uher

Stephanie & David Postell are Charleston natives who have lived here their entire lives and are completely invested in Charleston. The Postells own HERO Heating and Air, a residential and light commercial HVAC company that specializes in maintenance, service, and new system installation.

David has been in the industry for over 20 years serving as an Installation Mechanic, Field Technical Supervisor, Installation Manager, and now as the General Manager/Owner of HERO. Stephanie owned her own small business for over 10 years and then got into heating, air, and plumbing 10 years ago as the Operations Manager of a large company here in Charleston. She now serves as the Chief Operating Officer/Owner of HERO.

After opening HERO Heating and Air in March of 2020, they expanded by purchasing a company that had been serving the Lowcountry for the last twenty years called Custom Climate.

Stephanie, when asked why she and David chose this field, answered “To be honest, the trade chose us, and we couldn’t be happier that it did! The trades are amazing, provide a great living and allow us to service our community.” The services they offer are: HVAC maintenance, service, and installation for residential homes and small businesses.

The office of HERO Heating and Air is located on Long Point Road in Mount Pleasant, and the Postells think the world of their staff, “They are our Heroes! They work so hard and are incredibly motivated to serve our customers, to change perceptions of the trades, to educate people about their HVAC systems and to do a great job. We are so blessed with an awesome team!”

Two things unique to the business, HERO Heating and Air, as best stated by HERO’s Chief Operating Officer, “Our SERVICE to our customers and our SERVICE to our community! We train on customer service as much as we do technical training! Our office team is most caring and empathetic and motivated to get you taken care of quickly! We have a highly trained technical staff in the field, and they are empowered to make the decisions that are best for our customers. We want you to be educated and understand your system and the repairs that are needed. We also want to help you prevent costly breakdowns in the heat of the summer. It’s our job to give you all of the information that you need to make a great decision. We are available to you when you need us the most! Additionally, we are so grateful to the community that supports us, and we happily support many causes – big and small from the local high schools, swim teams and baseball teams, the local chapter of the National Alliance for Mental Illness, Breast Cancer Awareness as well as being the HVAC provider for Sea Island Habitat for Humanity.”

In just over 18 months in business, HERO has garnered over 425 five-star reviews on Google!  Customer satisfaction and referrals are really all the recognition that the owners and staff desire.

The heroes of HERO Heating and Air offer two excellent and effective recommendations: change your air filters regularly and do your bi-annual maintenance! Having an HVAC professional clean and inspect your unit once in the cooling season and once in the heating season will keep your system running as efficiently as possible. It will also prolong the life of your system and help you stay prepared for upcoming repairs and/or replacements.
